“Connection is key”. To ensure smooth communications within and among organizations, many systems are available. Picture this: an organization has two distant sites, each of which has its own intercom system for daily exchanges. Because connection is key, the two sites need to connect their intercom systems together through a WAN.
To achieve the operation and ensure its success, key factors will be considered: low latency, clear audio quality, tunneling of GPIOs over IP, and IP streaming robustness.
The hands-down solution
IQOYA SERV/LINK, the 1U multi-channel IP audio codec, is key to make the interconnection happen in a seamless fashion. IQOYA SERV/LINK will easily interface with an existing analog, AES3, AES67, MADI, or Dante intercom system. This bonanza of choices does not stop here as IQOYA SERV/LINK also provides physical and virtual GPIOs.
By installing one IQOYA SERV/LINK on each site, IP links will be established so as to have as many full-duplex audio connections as there are intercom channels, but also for bi-directional tunnelling of GPI statuses.
Audio signals can be compressed or uncompressed. Compressions such as Opus, AAC-ELD allow for low bitrates and low latency, but still with good audio quality.
FEC schemes and redundant dual streams can also be used to overcome the network packet losses.
Benefits of the solution
Up to 128 full-duplex communications in a 1U rack
Available with different audio connectivities
Adapted to managed and unmanaged WANs
Minimal operational cost
Full hardware isolation between the WAN and the local AoIP network (AES67, Dante) to preserve security
