How to enhance and make the best of a speakers amplification processing module

Digigram’s 35 years expertise in the design and development of pro audio solutions has been key to build successful installations in many areas, ranging from radio broadcast to industry. However, we like to light a creative spark and use our expertise for custom designed projects where we thrive in achieving the unexpected: follow us as we unfold this loudspeaker project!

Here, Digigram’s client is a French company famous for their PA speakers. Their iconic products include line array loudspeakers praised in PA sensitive large venues, where speech clarity is key: worship venues, train stations, conference halls or shopping malls. How can Digigram’s expertise add value to this specific project?

Digigram has teamed up with the client’s staff to provide support when drafting the project specifications. Our consulting expertise was also useful to provide the extra mile during the design phase. Always smarter to mix creative minds with different perspectives!

Our client’s wish list

The speakers involved are vertical line array speakers with digital control. They have shown their best efficiency when voicing loud and clear human speeches and music pieces in large venues. Their design was particularly meticulous and best serves large volumes and halls that usually demonstrate substantial reverberation.

In order to capitalize on their industrial process and cost optimization, the client wishes to incorporate a reference of electronic cards (already in use in another speakers’ range) in the design and development of said line array speakers. At stake? Lower the unit purchasing cost of each card, as well as reduce the storage volume of these spare parts.

How we made it work

  • The first step was to rework the cards’ design in order to optimize its size by rearranging the components’ placing.
  • Then, power supply regulation was integrated into the design.
  • We also brushed up the detailed specs and the industrial design plan
  • A per Unit validation plan was implemented
  • We supervised the prototyping and testing phases
  • All the Manufacturing files and Test protocols were controlled and updated
  • Eventually, we carried out a study on the Cost price per unit

How did we help?

We were glad to support our client by sharing our expertise gained through the years! This project was carried out as a joint task force and with constant communication among our teams, as transparency was key at every step of the project. Our client was able to voice potential or actual concerns pertaining to their market, as well as design constraints that we could jointly challenge. Design could be therefore adapted in order to meet the client’s slightest requirements.
